And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. (Genesis 17:1-5)
Abraham and Sarah had to learn that what God promises, He will supply, without any need of fleshly help. They tried to help the Lord out by having a child with Hagar, but El Shaddai made Sarai’s womb fruiftul. We must be careful not to run ahead of El Shaddai when things seem impossible. El Shaddai desires to make us fruitful. (John 15:16)
Prayer: Lord, you are strong and we desparately need your strength. Give us strength to live our lives for you. Help us to see when we are operating in our flesh. Make our lives fruitful. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
