Day 38. It is in the Water

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. (Psalm 1:1-4 NIV)

Sometimes it is absolutely overwhelming to look around and see the great creation that has been designed by our heavenly Father. The Lord provides all that we need even in the life-giving water in which we take for granted. We often place judgement on the Israelites who complained about the daily manna, but we are no different. We have water at our finger tips all day and everyday, yet we choose other beverages. This is not just applicable in the natural, but also spiritually speaking. We choose to drink daily from the wrong source, gulping down polluted lies that lead to a polluted life.

If you want a flourishing life, you must abide by the life-giving water and life-giving streams. The power, strength and nourishment is in the water of life itself, Jesus Christ. If you want to flourish in your thought life, home life, work environment and bear fruit for God, then you must be rooted in His word and watered by his spirit.

Perhaps, you have been plagued by lies that cause you to think that the situations and circumstances in and around you can’t change. The good news is that God makes all things new. You are loved by the Lord and he came to set us all free from sickness, depression, financial bondage, and all the other things that have us in chains. Tell yourself today, “I am ready for God to do a new thing in my life because He told me that He can and He will. I will drink from the source of all life and truth so that I may flourish like a tree planted by the streams of living water.”

Prayer: Lord, thank you so much for your word. Increase within me a hunger for it, because it brings nourishment to my life. As I meditate upon its truth, make firm my roots so that I may drink deeply and bear your fruit in my life. Help me to renounce the lies of the enemy and declare only the truths that you have made known through your precious word. In the matchless name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
