Prayer Focus Week 1 -Jan. 2024

Prayer Focus: Seeking and Loving the Lord continually:

“Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” God’s Decree.

“I’ll turn things around for you. I’ll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you”—God’s Decree—“bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile. You can count on it.

(Jeremiah 29:13-14 MSG)

God wants to spend time with you. You have to be intentional to make time for Him. There will be obstacles, challenges and deliberate distractions from the enemy to try and hinder your “alone time” with the Lord. Being in the presence of the Lord and setting aside quiet moments were never meant to be a chore or some sort of laborsome task. These moments are actually opportunities to make an intimate connection with Jesus.

This first week in January 2024, if you are inclined to fast from food or give up some pleasurable activities in order to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, be assured it is not so that we can get God to do what we want, but it is a pathway to intimacy into a deeper union with him.

Throughout this week, along with your own personal favorites, revisit the following scriptures as a means to keep Jesus as the center of your joy. Before we petition Him for breakthroughs, prayer requests, and miracles, please remember that He loves you and His desire is to connect with you more than you will ever know.

  • I long to drink of you, O God, to drink deeply from the streams of pleasure flowing from your presence. My longings overwhelm me for more of you! My soul thirsts, pants, and longs for the living God. I want to come and see the face of God. (Psalm 42:1-2 TPT)

  • With passion I pursue and cling to you. Because I feel your grip on my life, I keep my soul close to your heart. (Psalm 63:8 TPT)

  • God—you’re my God! I can’t get enough of you! I’ve worked up such hunger and thirst for God,
        traveling across dry and weary deserts. 2-4 So here I am in the place of worship, eyes open,
        drinking in your strength and glory. In your generous love I am really living at last!
        My lips brim praises like fountains. I bless you every time I take a breath;
        My arms wave like banners of praise to you. (Psalm 63:1-4 MSG)
