Prayer Focus-Jan. 7-13, 2024
You are called to Pray
As it is the business of tailors to mend clothes and cobblers to make shoes, so it is the business of Christians to pray. (Martin Luther)
Our Kainos Community Church had an amazing New Year’s Eve celebration. The guest speaker Bishop Bobby Pierson shared an amazing testimony of his miraculous healing back in 2019.
Entering the emergecy room one Sunday evening to get checked for constant coughing and allergy symptoms, the doctor noticed that both of Bishop Pierson’s lungs were filled with fluid. At 10pm, he was checked in to begin the procedure to relieve his lungs. However, he did not wake up from that procedure until the following Wednesday morning.
He later found out that he had flatlined and had to be resuscitated twice. The Lord spared his life and not only that, but to this day, the doctor’s are still baffled that he somehow had received a brand new heart. Bishop Pierson is close to 60 years of age, and the doctors reported that his heart resembles that of a teenager.
What a mighty God we serve!
As he shared the testimony, he mentioned that something miraculous would happen in the service that New Year’s Eve, The atmosphere had been definitely charged with possibilities for miracles, signs, and wonders.
This second week in January 2024, let us keep the focus of Jesus as being our miracle worker.
Pastor Greer gave us a running start as he shared the message entitled, “Conditions for a Miracle” taken from the scripture Mark 9:14-29.
It is the account of the father who brought his son to the disciples and they could not free the boy from the tormenting spirit.
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
Throughout this week, as we continue to fast and pray, let us believe for strength and perserverence to keep a prayerful and fasted life so that we can remain sensitive to the heart of God. We also want to avail ourselves as vessels to be used for miracles, signs, and wonders just like Jesus did. It’s not just about abstaining from food, but sometimes the Holy Spirit will prompt us to pray and read the word instead of us binge watching a favorite TV show or movie. We could also be led to lay down our social media devices to commune with Him and intercede for others. Believe it or not, intercession provides an inheritance for the people and places we pray for. It’s not only about us and getting our individual needs met, but it is truly about advancing the Kingdom of God. What you should want most is God's kingdom and doing what he wants you to do. Then he will give you all these other things you need. (Matthew 6:33 ERV)
Each day this week, read the scripture and set aside some time to pray and intercede for the following:
Monday - (Acts 4:24-31) - a prayer for impartation for Holy Spirit boldness along with an increase of signs and wonders, especially for those we may encounter who need any form of healing, deliverance or breakthrough.
Tuesday - (Romans 15:5-7) a prayer of unity within churches, across, cities, states, nations and the world. Unity in families, marriages, jobs, neighborhoods.
Wednesday - (Philipians 1:9-11) - a prayer for God’s love to abound in our hearts, resulting in discernment and a deep commitment to righteousness. A prayer to free us of unforgiveness, bitterness, resentment, critical or judgemental spirits.
Thursday - (Colossians 1:9-12) - a prayer to know God’s will, to be fruitful in ministry, and be strengthened by intimacy with God as we do the work of the Kingdom.
Friday - (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12) - a prayer to be equipped and prepared to walk in the fullness of God’s destiny for the church and its people.
Saturday - (Romans 15:13) - a prayer to be filled with supernatural joy, peace, and hope. Pray that others will experience the overflow of the joy, peace, and hope on our lives with little or no words.
